Additional Details

An intricately detailed initial cap illustration of a troll in the Hagues' retelling of the classic Norwegian folk tale. The "O" begins the story's opening line: "Once long ago there lived a husband and his wife and their seven children." The image consists of the final published illustration, as well as an earlier version of the letter alongside it. Appropriately for a classic fairy tale, Hague masterfully channeled the likes of John Bauer and Arthur Rackham in the book's imagery.
